DEDs to be appraised after 1 year of service
“This is July. The same time next year you will be appraised in terms of performance and those who will not meet the goals and set targets will go back where they come from as we are advocating toward development especially among the majority of Tanzanians from low income families,” he said.
He also cautioned them to stay away from land deals especially in connection with selling open spaces and restricted areas.
He directed them to ensure that they regain land which is falsely occupied without fearing the owner of the plots so long as they contravened land regulations and procedures upon acquiring such plots.
“Those of you who have been posted in urban areas, you have a lot to do as far as land matters are concerned.
There are areas which are meant for public use but a few unfaithfully people have decided to acquire them. Regardless of their political affiliation go repossess. Take it back government,” he directed.
Mr Simbachawene also counselled them to ensure they give priority in addressing issues on public needs since it is the community that is served better which will come out openly and express the good deeds of the government.
“Be fair to the people as you observe good governance rules and procedures in implementing your daily duties,” said Mr Simbachawene. He added that the DED should verify primary and secondary school desk implementation to know the actual number and the needs to see if the shortage has been addressed.
They should also make sure timely and proper implementation taking into account value for money. On his part, the Deputy Minister, Mr Suleiman Jaffo, called upon the DEDs to ensure they set aside the five per cent fund of their district revenue for youth and women development projects.
This is for improvement of their economic welfare. The Permanent Secretary (PS) in the President’s Office, Public Service and Good Governance, Dr Laurian Ndumbaro, underscored the need for them to get rid of ghost workers in their respective areas.
“You are all aware that the government has suspended salary increases and new employment as it deals with ghost workers. Make close supervision of the Administrative personnel officers to ensure that such workers are weeded out of the system,” said Dr Ndumbaro.
