Four perish in ghastly road accident

Singida Regional Police Commander (RPC), Thobias Sedoyeka, named those who died in the accident as the driver of the ill-fated vehicle, one Thabit Ally. Others are Christopher Kilindiro (30), Rajabu Shabani (25), both businessmen and residents of Igunga in Tabora and one unidentified male person.
According to the RPC, those injured are Lausius Charles Haule (15) a standard seven pupil at Igunga Primary School and Marwa Charles (37), a businessman at Igunga town who are admitted to Kiomboi Hospital in the area for treatment.
He said that the accident occurred at Misigiri village on July 7, this year, at 9:00 am, where a Scania truck belonging to Hascam Investment & General Supplies Ltd of Dar es Salaam with registration number T 716 MMI pulling a trailer with registrationT 391 DCY was involved.
He said that the vehicle was travelling from Moshi to Mwanza with manure cargo, but when it reached the area it ploughed into a nearby bridge causing the deaths of the four people and injured two others.


The RPC said that preliminary investigation on the cause of the accident revealed that the vehicle’s brakes failed to function properly causing it to slip into the bridge.
