UVCCM suspends members for power abuse

UVCCM also accused Mbinga Urban Member of Parliament, Sixtus Mapunda, for taking the party’s title deeds without permission. His case will be forwarded to CCM Secretary General Abdulrahman Kinana for further action.
Acting UVCCM Secretary General, Shaka Hamdu Shaka, said other members have been suspended pending to investigations. He said investigations show that a 210-acre farm, property of UVCCM located at Igumbilo in Iringa Urban district was sold to Suhail Thakore, contrary to procedures.
He said UVCCM has suspended Seki Kasuga, a member of the UVCCM Executive Council. UVCCM has also suspended the Head of Economic, Empowerment and Finance department, Omar Suleiman. He added that UVCCM has expelled Ally Nyamwenga for selling the UVCCM’s plots. Nyamwenga was a UVCCM deputy secretary for Iringa region.
He added that the UVCCM Executive Council has directed the secretariat to send a termination letter to Upendo Kinyunyu, who was an office secretary for deliberately distorting information to the committee, which was formed to probe the matter.
“Kinyunyu did not offer any assistance to the probe team, instead she hid all documents in the computer to distort the evidence,” he claimed. Moreover, Shaka added that the former UVCCM Regional secretary, Elisha Mwampashi, violated the principles and regulations of selling the UVCCM farm. Mwampashi is currently serving as CCM Secretary for Iringa Urban district. “Mwampashi coordinated the selling of Igambilo farm without getting permission from the party’s meetings.
He knew that his action was against the party’s regulations,” said Shaka. He added that another UVCCM member, Hassan Mtenga, agreed to the selling of the party’s farm. He said Mtenga was aware of the situation that proper procedures were not followed.
He said UVCCM has forwarded the reports to the Secretary General’s office. He added that Mapunda also took UVCCM title deeds without notifying or getting approval from the party’s meetings. “Mapunda abused his powers by influencing some members to go against the party’s regulations,” he said. He said UVCCM has decided to retake its farm from Suhail Thakore.
